Didn’t we learn from the Avocado I Know The Guac Is Extra But So Am I T-shirt Cavendish banana, the Gros Michel? We genetically modified the Cavendish so that they all have one traceable ancestor, no genetic diversity at all, now they are all in danger of being wiped out by one disease. We already nearly killed one breed of banana the Gros Michel. Why would we do the same for the Avocado ?
Seeds are life. This is the most ridiculous news i ever read. Are we going to celebrate when men and women star being born infertile because it will be the end of contraception and unwanted pregnancies?? If people are getting injured by avocados they should just be more careful, or are they going to start breeding boneless cows because of all the butchers who have cut their fingers? Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Don’t buy seedless or stoneless fruits and vegetables. If you do, it plays right into the hands of the huge multinational corporations who want to control all food production by controlling reproduction, eliminating any possibility that any of us could grow our own food from seeds left from the food we eat.
The only people who continually talk about ‘avocado injuries’ are Brits who live in the UK. Have they just discovered the fruit? I have never been attacked by one in my 40+ years of use. This nonsense has come from these so called super chefs who hopefully belong to the ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ brigade. Umm Yeah this seems a bit silly. My family coming from Texas and in Florida we eat lots of avocados and never have had an injury from an avocado or any vegetable for that matter. So this seedles thing is stupid. BBC

Ohhh no… No, no, no. I live in Texas and the true Texas and Mexican way to make guacamole is with the pit in the guac – do NOT eat the pit, it’s just there for decoration, and proof that the guac is actually made.from avocado, and it moves around the bowl as you scoop the guac with chips, kind of like a toy or decoration. Without the pit it’s just not authentic. To make it, leave the avocado on the counter a couple of days until it gets ripe and soft. Carefully slice it open ON A CUTTING BOARD, cutting around the pit, then twist the avocado open. Use a spoon to scoop the flesh into a bowl ‘with’ the pit, and mash the flesh with a fork, leaving the pit in the bowl with the mashed avocado. Stir in 1-2 TBSP of lime juice (fresh is best, but bottled is just fine), salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Then you can also add the following options to your liking: finely minced fresh onion, 1-2 cloves of minced/fresh garlic, diced tomato, minced/fresh cilantro, and a touch of sour cream. Stir together, and serve with crispy corn chips, or use as a topping for burgers or on a lettuce-bed as a side dish for tacos or enchiladas. You can also dice up a less-ripe avocado into small cubes and toss it with diced tomatoes and onions, as well as drained/canned pineapple tidbits, and drained/canned black beans, and.canned/drained corn, and toss in a vinigrete to use as a ‘salsa fresca’ to top salads, any roasted meats, fajitas, and seafood/shrimp, or on cold gazpacho or hot chicken tortilla soup. Serve the guac or salsa fresca as your first filling on warm flour tortillas or soft-toasted corn tortillas, then add your shredded meat and shredded cheese, and taco sauce, for authentic Mexican street tacos… or just mash a plain avocado and spread on toast or crackers instead of butter…mmm! Sooo good.
