Stop sexualising young children and young girls then this won’t be a problem or just get rid of the school uniform all together and let them come in wearing their own jeans there is no need to dress kids up like small business men to go to school. Our skirts had to be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee, this was strictly adhered to. And I must say far more flattering than these oh so short skirts, I bet you cannot bend down, and no makeup.
This is the dumbest thing ever. I was a middle school teacher at a Caribbean Sea private school. My students sometimes walked casually around in swimming suits, shorts, small skirts, or dresses. And it wasn’t a big deal! They are children! Even more, they are just people! Just be an adult, understand and comprehend that there are moments, places and situations where you can switch your perception, your intentions and your treatment! When you deal with children, they are always children, regardless. Imagine if doctors start demanding to veil patient’s bodies because their almost naked bodies are too tempting? The problem with skirts is that they end up looking really scruffy. Lots of girls roll them up – which bunches the waists up and looks messy, while others wear long ones. Trousers are uniform length and look smarter. If you’re going to have a uniform, there really shouldn’t be any difference between boys and girls. Not in 2021. Skirts are less practical so shouldn’t be on the uniform list for that reason. Protecting children from the male gaze is not a good reason.
If its about dressing for the work place, then will they do away with ties for girls too? I suspect not.
And “too revealing”… Too revealing of what, exactly? Archaic patriarchal attitudes towards women’s bodies?
