It isn’t about, race ,color or gender it’s about power . Then the same as today. Those in power use the same game keep the peasants fighting and they steal everything that isn’t tied down. Great women. It’s stories like this that make me want to slap Millennials who dismiss early feminism as it wasn’t “intersectional enough”. No onus on men to have sorted out racism before women were begrudgingly given their rights. All “cis white women’s” fault.

They should never have had to fight in the first place. They should never have needed to bomb, or start fires or go on hunger strike. Women should have had the vote because it’s fair.
Unfortunately they had to take harsh stance to be heard. If men hadn’t been so stupid in denying their rights it would never have been necessary. Not completely overwhelmed, the Suffragette’s were only after votes for women of ‘substance’ ‘Property and Money’ they had no interest in trying to get the vote for normal working class women.

My Nan always instilled into me that we owed it to these brave, committed ladies, to always use our vote. I always do even though I don’t have a lot of respect for today’s politicians. We have a right to make our choice and must not lose sight of this. All women should vote, when you see what the suffragette women went through, so we could! Shame on those who ‘can’t be bothered’!!!
Why do the BBC chose to glorify the suffragettes when the campaign for woman’s suffrage was already well on its way to success before they were formed?
Many historians would go so far as to argue that the suffragettes damaged the movement due to their violent and disruptive tactics, yet the BBC dignify their actions by posting multiple propagandic videos and – from what I can see – completely ignoring many other organisations which are much more worthy of praise!
