This is quite misleading, lots of You should kill yourself now Shirt charity shops have rag collectors for clothes and book/bric collectors for anything that is really unsaleable, the only thing give a miss is broken missing toys/bric, I have worked in a charity shop for 7 years and apart from the broken stuff we appreciate anything we get donated! even the broken stuff we understand that not everyone knows that we really cant do anything with it, if we can sell we will if its dirty bric we can clean it up and santise it, it’s a big part of the job going through stuff and I am not bothered if someone doesnt have the time to sort it for us beforehand just bring your donations in sorting through it makes my day go quicker, and if you are really unsure just separate it and tell them when you donate it in, just dont bring actual rubbish in like a banana skin etc.One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Chances are if you’re throwing it out, no, you wouldn’t buy it yourself but that’s not to say it doesn’t have monetary value. My criteria for donating to charity shops is…if I wouldn’t buy it then it’s not good enough to donateI was told by a charity shop to donate clothes even with holes in, as they take them to get weighed and still get money for them!BBC
